A long, winding journey — arriving at exactly the right time

By Tamara Williams, RGCSL Webmaster

This website has taken the long way home. But every step brought us to the right place at the right time. And now, here we are, with a new home, a new vision, and a new website — arriving right when we need it most.

A brief history

Back in 2022, Interim Minister Karen Linsley gathered a group of us to imagine a new website that would strengthen our online presence, welcome newcomers, and give our community a clear, warm place to land. By July, Rev. Gil joined the visioning, bringing clarity, enthusiasm, and a sense of direction.

Then life happened; priorities shifted. The project curled up like a cat and took a nap.

In 2023, a new team formed, and kitty woke up. We dove into the foundational work that would shape the site. Momentum was building… until another pause arrived, courtesy of budget constraints and timing.

After we launched Solid Grounds, the timing felt right again. Another team formed, and we tackled the work with fresh energy. After a while, the pace slowed down again.

Meanwhile, I kept working behind the scenes — revising, updating, improving — and Rev. Kamatara helped steer the ship, keeping the vision aligned.

And this year, the momentum really accelerated. After we parted ways with two developers who weren’t the right fit, a new one came on board who helped bring the design into focus and move it to completion. The timing feels magical. Finally — a website that feels like us.

This project has traveled through multiple teams, shifting timelines, unexpected pauses, and more than a few twists along the way — and yet the vision stayed alive. Welcome to the new RGCSL website.
